Residential house of artists of the Moscow Art Theater
Detailed description
The building has a simple and concise form, typical of Soviet constructivism of the 1920s, plastered with marble chips. Compositionally, it consists of three parallelepipeds, with the lowest parallelepiped ending in a terrace facing the side of the church facing Moscow and the Kremlin. Shchusev himself used the room facing this terrace as his studio. The rest of the building was planned and decorated according to the wishes of the residents. The ceilings were decorated with plaster, some apartments had fireplaces, and one had a swimming pool.
