Yakovlev Houses
Detailed description
The house belonged to Savva Yakovlev, the owner of an ironworks in the Urals, and his heirs. A significant part of the site was occupied by warehouses for storing iron and steel. In 1822, the famous architect A.I. Melnikov drew up plans for a two-story building; his father had already designed two houses for the merchant Yakovlev. The first floor was to be used as a store, the second as a warehouse and office, and the third as a living space. Both buildings were supposed to be a single whole. The lower floor has the shape of a false arcade. The attic looks like a staircase. Inside, a rounded corner hall with niches is of interest.
