Museum of the History of the Trade Union Movement of St. Petersburg
Detailed description
The Museum of the History of the St. Petersburg Trade Union Movement was first opened at the height of the Civil War in 1918. In its current form, the museum was recreated again in 2005, to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the trade unions. The exhibition is located on the ground floor of the Palace of Labor. The exhibition provides an opportunity for visitors to get acquainted with authentic objects and materials of previous generations of the trade union movement. The museum has two halls. The first one tells about the period of 1905-1917. At this time, the trade union began to emerge in St. Petersburg. Visitors will see documents, drawings, charters, and photographs of leaders and members of trade union groups. The second hall is dedicated to the years 1918-1953. Leaflets, protocols, and photographs of pickets, protests, and demonstrations show how union workers fought the political system.
