The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker at UGSU is an architectural monument of the 19th century. The temple was built in 1877, and was located on the second floor of an orphanage. The orphanage and the temple were built with the money of the merchant M. A. Nurov. In 1924, this brick church building without a bell tower and domes was transferred to the Ural branch of the Geological Committee. In 2003, the restoration of the monument began, three years later the domes and the cross were consecrated, and in 2009 the repair work was fully completed. Now the church has a Sobriety society, a youth art studio, and a catechetical school (for adults). and the Sisterhood of mercy (helping people in need). The temple houses a holy icon painted by monks on Mount Athos.
