Matveev House
Detailed description
The building, famous since the 1800s, was rebuilt according to the plans of the building committee. The house has Empire style features: the facade of the three-storey building has a pediment and a pilaster portico with six columns. The side facades are decorated with stucco, and the first white stone floor has been preserved since the 18th century. Since the middle of the 19th century, the house belonged to the family of the merchant Matveev, who owned it from the 1880s until the revolution. In the 1920s and 30s, the Hero of the Soviet Union, the famous pilot Tatyana Makarova, lived in the house.
