Bell tower of the Church of Sophia of the Wisdom of God
Detailed description
The tent-shaped bell tower in the Russian-Byzantine spirit was built in the 1860s. On the lower level there is a passage leading to the church. A tent with a dome and a cross rises above the bell tower. In 1908, the bell tower was severely damaged due to flooding. The restoration of the bell tower began in 1960, and in the 90s the bells of the belfry were restored, but there were not enough funds for a full range of work. It was only in 2010 that the Moscow Government decided to carry out a complete restoration of the bell tower. The foundation of the bell tower was strengthened, the facade and fortifications were restored, a new cross was installed and the vault was restored.
