Intaravihan Temple
Detailed description
The towering 32-meter Buddha is what distinguishes the Wat Intharavihan Temple. The construction of this statue, known as Luang Por Toh, began in 1867, during the reign of King Rama IV. The construction, decorated with glass mosaics and 24-carat gold, took more than 60 years to complete. The prayer room was built at the end of the Ayutthaya period and is decorated with several interesting Buddha images, relief frescoes on the walls and luxuriously gilded shutters on the windows. The stones are lined with unusual carvings outside, and a realistic model of Luang Phaw Toh, the famous monk, is hidden in the niche.
