House with towers
Detailed description
The house with towers in St. Petersburg, also known as the Rosenstein-Belogrud House, was built in 1915, combining elements of neo—Renaissance and Neo-Gothic. Six-sided towers rise symmetrically above the main building. The windows of the 3rd and 5th floors on the side of Lva Tolstogo Street were deliberately shifted in relation to the other floors. The corners of the towers are highlighted with decoration, and in the wall of one of them there is a decorative dial with Zodiac signs. There are two lanterns on the facade from Lva Tolstogo Street. The design of this part of the building with offset rows of windows is explained by the fact that a five-storey building was included in the new building from this side. For all its picturesqueness, the building was built with an increased reserve of strength. The floor-to-floor ceilings were supported by custom-made multi-span double-beam beams. The interior layout of the house is convenient and compact.
