The Josaphov Tower
Detailed description
The Josaphov Tower of the Novodevichy Monastery is located between the Tsaritsyn and Shvalnaya towers. The walls and towers of the Novodevichy Monastery were created in the likeness of the Kremlin and appeared at the end of the 16th century under Boris Godunov, they performed a defensive function, protecting the approaches to Moscow from the west. The Josaphov Tower has a square shape, and there are gates on the outside and inside of the tower. On the inside, the gate is latticed, forged, and on the outside it is wooden, upholstered with metal and a strip. On the ground floor of the tower there are memorial stones and artifacts found on the territory of the monastery.
