Zholtovsky House
Detailed description
The architectural structure was built in 1934 according to the design of the Soviet architect Ivan Vladislavovich Zholtovsky. The building was built for employees of the Moscow City Council. Previously, the US Embassy was located here, and since 2000, the main office of the Sistema investment company has been located here. The architect deliberately contrasted the classical building with the avant-garde and various intermediate trends. He used this building as an example demonstrating the artistic virtues of the classics. In 2007, the building was reconstructed, leaving only part of the facade. All the internal floors were demolished, and the upper floor was expanded, which distorted the original idea of Zholtovsky.
