Metropol
Detailed description
The building was built in 1899-1905. The initiator of the construction was the famous philanthropist and cultural figure Savva Mamontov. At his request, architect William Valcott developed the original design of the building. The hotel is the largest public building of the Art Nouveau era. The architectural design of the building follows strict forms, and through the characteristic Art Nouveau features, one can see elements of pseudo-gothic. On the northern facade there is a panel created by Mikhail Vrubel – "Princess of Dreams".
