Kitaygorodskaya Wall
Detailed description
The Kitaygorodsky wall was built from 1535 to 1538. The wall is located around Moscow's Kitay-Gorod and is a monument to medieval Russian fortification. The construction of the building began thanks to the decree of Elena Glinskaya. The wall served as a fortification to protect against enemy raids. The building is made of red faceted bricks, with platforms for guns. The wall is about six meters high and four meters wide. The upper part of the facility served for cannons, which were enclosed by rectangular teeth. The wall is vaulted, sometimes cast with copper, connected by wooden bridges. Today, the monument is partially destroyed.
