Funny Palace
Detailed description
The Funny Palace is a palace building in the Moscow Kremlin, located between the Komandorskaya and Troitskaya towers on the western wall of the Kremlin, on Dvortsovaya Street. It was built in 1651 as the residence of the boy Ilya Danilovich Miroslavsky, father-in-law of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, and is the only surviving example of a boy's residence in the Kremlin. The narrow area between the fortress walls and the houses of the royal residence determined the decision of the layout of the Miroslavsky residence. The building was located in the center of the site, with the front yard and utility garden located to the north and south of it. The building was almost square, with an arch in the center that connected the two zones. The porch on the south side of the courtyard covered the annex, which was attached to the main palace.
