Detailed description
The Assumption Cathedral was the main monastery of successive emperors from the 14th to the 17th century. The cathedral was also the burial place of metropolitans and patriarchs, heads of the Russian Church. After the revolution of 1917, the cathedral became a cathedral. The church building has preserved wall paintings from 1642-1943 and an iconostasis from 1653. In front of the iconostasis are the prayer places of the emperor, the queen and the patriarch. The greatest interest is the prayer place of the emperor. In the south-western corner stands an openwork bronze tent.
