Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos in the Kremlin
Detailed description
The Cathedral of the Annunciation, also known as the Annunciation Cathedral, is located on Cathedral Square in the Moscow Kremlin. This Orthodox church was consecrated in honor of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and became the first house church of the Moscow grand dukes and tsars in the XVI century, as well as the first tsar Mikhail Fedorovich before the construction of Verkhospassky Cathedral. The cathedral's modern appearance was given to it in the 1560s. The walls of the four aisles, located above the corners of the galleries, are divided into square widths. The basement of the cathedral is an architectural monument of the late 14th century and is made of large white stone blocks with a pillar installed in the center, to which an apse adjoins on the east side.
