Detailed description
The building was built in 1914 according to the project of Peter Ivanovich Balinsky for the Russian Bank for Foreign Trade. It is a five-storey building that combines the features of Art Nouveau style with elements of neoclassicism. The facade is divided into tiers and decorated with bas-reliefs with characters from Greek mythology, medallions with fruits and vases. The shapes of the window openings are different. There are pilasters with Ionic capitals, garlands and large keystones characteristic of neoclassicism. The entrance is through a deep arch with rusticated columns on the sides. In 1918, the building was transferred to the trade unions and was named the Palace of Labor.
