The first machine building of the Alekseevskaya water lifting station
Detailed description
The Alekseevskaya water pumping station was once part of the Mytishchi aqueduct, the first system that supplied Moscow with drinking water. Most of the buildings of the complex have survived to the present day and are now considered cultural heritage and monuments of industrial architecture. A new water supply system was needed to meet the needs of Moscow residents. The design was carried out by German-born engineer Friedrich Bauer. The construction of the complex network took 25 years, and it was fully operational only at the beginning of the 19th century.
