I.I. Nekrasov's mansion
Detailed description
I.I.Nekrasov's mansion was built in 1906. I.I. Nekrasov was a gold miner who owned several mines in Siberia. At the beginning of the 20th century, he opened several factories in Moscow, and it was then that he decided to build his own house. The exterior of the house resembles a small castle. Two large flat facades converge at the corner to a semicircular bay window. The upper cornice of the bay window is decorated with Gothic-style ornaments. Its upward trend is emphasized by the narrow intertwined columns between the windows. The building has two entrances, one front from the side of the alley, the other from the courtyard. A wrought-iron balcony has been preserved on the courtyard facade. The house had an elevator, which is still preserved today. It was used to serve dishes from the kitchen in the basement to the ground floor of the main dining room. After the restoration, the building was given its original appearance, thanks to the surviving photographs and drawings. The unique stucco decoration has been restored. The building is an object of cultural heritage of Russia. In Soviet times, the house housed the residence of the Spanish Ambassador, then the Embassy of Chile.
