Chambers of D.N. Shcherbakov
Detailed description
The most unique architectural monument, an object of cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation, an example of residential architecture of merchant Moscow was erected in 1773. The building combines the features of Baroque and classicism and was built according to the traditional scheme: the vaulted basement was used as a warehouse, the first floor was a completely commercial space, and the second — a residential apartment. The building of the chambers has been preserved, the original layout is authentic, the vaults and white-stone basements remain intact. Over the years, there was a drinking establishment, a beer hall, and a Sausage shop. In 1986, the building was almost demolished due to the construction of a road, but it was defended by enthusiasts. In early 2000, renovation work was carried out. Today there is nothing in the building, the owner is the city of Moscow.
