* The main (but not the only) theme of this route is the era of military settlements. We will see: • well-preserved Arakcheevsky barracks in Novoselitsy • the impressive ruins of the Selishchensk barracks • the little that remains of the Muravyov barracks Each of these military towns has a rich history, and it is not limited to the era of military settlements. It will focus on the people who served there (including Mikhail Lermontov and Afanasy Fet), the events of the war years (part of the route runs along the Volkhov Front line) and much more. The story of Bronnitsa– once a large Yamshchitsky village on the way from St. Petersburg to Moscow, deserves a separate story. Here we will visit Bronnitskaya Gora, see the Vvedensky Church built on it by Vasily Stasov and admire the same views that even impressed Empress Catherine II at the time. The tour requires your own car or bus. The transfer must be ordered separately if the group does not have its own transport.
