Nikolskaya Tower
Detailed description
Nikolskaya Tower is a corridor tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. It is located on a hill on both sides of the tower there is a pedestrian bridge, built in 1982. The bridge was named after the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. In the towers of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, built along the slope to the Pochin, there were powder depots, and in the gorge itself there was a factory with windmills - the Zeleiny Dvor. As part of the "greatest restoration", the embankment of the tower was replaced with a regular rectangular opening, and half of the battlements were removed. Until now, the tower, like the rest of the Kremlin, has been in poor condition. For a long time, it served as a meeting place for various informal groups and was heavily damaged by graffiti and vandalism. However, after some time, informal meetings stopped, and video surveillance was installed on the tower. In 2015, a museum exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War was opened in the Nikolskaya Tower.
