Holy Gates and Almshouse
Detailed description
The Holy Gates are the main entrance to the Smolenskoye Cemetery in St. Petersburg. Two one-story almshouses made of stone are attached to the gate. The complex was built from 1807 to 1809. L. Ruska is considered the architect of the holy gates and almshouses. The buildings are made of stone and wood in the classical style. During the Soviet period, the police were stationed in the buildings.
