Batashov Manor
Detailed description
The Batashov Estate is one of the most famous architectural works of the XVIII century in St. Petersburg. It was built by architects Ya. Vishnyakov and G. Junger in 1762 for Nikita Batashov, a bank employee. The estate is located on the Moika River embankment, in the center of historic St. Petersburg. It has two floors and is decorated in the classical style. The facade of the house is decorated with marble columns, in the center of which is a two-story portico with a balcony. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Batashov estate was a meeting place for the upper strata of society. Balls and receptions were held within its walls, where the best representatives of the militia, noble ladies and statesmen gathered. At the beginning of the 20th century, the estate was acquired by merchant Ya.S. Mikhnin, who made it one of the first apartment buildings. Throughout the Soviet period, the Stolz Music College was located here.
Currently, the Batashov estate is a monument of architecture and cultural heritage of the city.
