Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos
Detailed description
In the 1780s, a wooden church was built on the site of the Intercession Church, which, unfortunately, was damaged by fire in 1895. Instead, a brick temple was erected, characterized by bright eclectic forms, which was completed in 1909. The main volume of the church was decorated with a drum under an onion dome, and side chapels such as Dimitry Rostovsky and George the Victorious, completed with hipped roofs, adjoined it from the sides. There was also a small refectory and a tent-shaped bell tower to the west. Unfortunately, the church was demolished in 1930, but in 2005-2007 a new single-domed eclectic church was erected. In the period from 1760 to 1820, the Intercession Church was the main temple of the fortress and the city.
