Detailed description

The Women's Orthodox Church of Yekaterinburg is one of the largest in Russia. The main cathedral - Alexander Nevsky Cathedral - is a monument to the architecture of late classicism. The history of the monastery begins at the end of the 17th century, when an almshouse began at the cemetery of the Assumption. In 1922, the monastery was closed by the Soviet authorities, and in 1994 the revival began. Now they sew and embroider here again, paint icons, sing at divine services. The monastery in Yekaterinburg and in the village of Merkushino have two farmsteads.
