Detailed description

The building of the Appanage Office is a historical monument. Its original owner was Governor A.S. Kryukov, who built the mansion in 1826. It was believed that the designer of the building was G.I. Kiesewetter, but later it turned out that the architect was not involved in its creation. The building was redone during the Soviet period according to the project of V.A. Orelsky. Before the revolution, the building was the home of the appanage office and the appanage hospital. Famous personalities such as writer, ethnographer and lexicographer V.I. Dahl and architect L.V. Dahl lived and worked in the estate office from 1849 to 1859. On the second floor, decorative balusters in the window sills and a meander pattern between the first and second floors have been preserved. The western facade has retained the rhythm and shape of the window openings with balusters in the window sills of the second floor. In 2013, repairs were carried out on the street facades to restore the destroyed plaster and decorative elements. The wooden window sashes were replaced with plastic ones.
