The foundation of the Small Nikolaevsky Palace
Detailed description
The second basement floor of the palace has a white stone foundation and a high underground arch, which shows signs of reinforcement of brickwork. These data are also described in a book with a detailed description of the architect Shokin's fortification project in the second half of the 19th century. Archaeologists have excavated and examined the foundations of the well-preserved buildings of the Palace of Little Nicholas and parts of the foundations of the Chudov and Voznesensky monasteries, which have disappeared in places.
