Archaeological window with the foundation of the Cathedral of the Ascension Monastery
Detailed description
The archaeological window on the territory of the Moscow Kremlin is a kind of portal to the past, in which you can see the foundation of the Voznesensky Monastery, which was lost in the thirties. The monastery itself was built on the territory of the Kremlin back in the sixteenth century by Evdokia Dmitrievna, the wife of Grand Duke Dmitry Donskoy. The building was demolished in 1929. The fourteenth building of the Kremlin, where the Presidential Administration units were located, was rebuilt on the site of the monastery. In 2014, it was decided to demolish the Administration building in order to restore the historical appearance of this place. Archaeological excavations are currently taking place there.
