The foundation of the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine of the Ascension Monastery
Detailed description
At the beginning of the 19th century, a temple in honor of the Great Martyr Catherine was erected on the territory of the Kremlin near Spasskaya. Elements of the Gothic style were used in the design of the church.: pointed arches, towers in the shape of cones. During the revolutionary unrest, the temple was damaged. They wanted to restore it, but they couldn't due to insufficient funding, so all the valuables were deposited in other churches. Gradually, the building deteriorated and was eventually lost. In the late thirties, a Military school building was built on the foundation of the temple.
