Spasskaya Tower
Detailed description
The Spasskaya Tower was built in 1491 in the same architectural style as the Moscow Kremlin. The tower took on its current appearance in 1624-1625, according to other sources — in 1626, when a multi-tiered top was built. The star on the peak of the tower was installed in 1937. The original name of the tower was Frolovskaya, or Frololavrskaya, which comes from the Frol and Lavra Church on Myasnitskaya Street, where the road from the Kremlin led through these gates. Initially, the tower had a defense checkpoint function. In 1937, a pommel in the form of a ruby star was placed on the structure. The famous chiming clock is installed in the upper part of the tower. It is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance.
