The residence of the President of the Russian Federation is located in the building of the Senate Palace in the very center of the capital. The palace was built by order of Catherine II, for meetings of the government Senate in 1790. The construction of the palace building lasted 10 years. The palace has three floors, beautifully decorated with a green dome in the center of the building. The facades of the building are very richly decorated with pilasters and scapulars. The palace was built in the shape of an isosceles triangle. The palace building has a government library, a meeting room of the Security Council, and a rotunda in the recess of the courtyard, where the Catherine Hall of the Senate is located, round, voluminous, and the most luxurious hall in Moscow.
