Detailed description

Red Square is the heart of Moscow, a place for walking and main attractions. It is here that the acquaintance with the Capital of Russia takes place. The construction of the square began in 1493, after a large fire, and a huge square was formed on the site of the burnt-out building, which became known as the Fire. The total area is 24,750 square meters. It is located between the Kremlin and Kitay-Gorod. Three main streets of Moscow lead to the square-Nikolskaya Street, Ilyinka and Varvarka. It is believed that the Kremlin and Red Square were built as fortifications to protect the population from invaders. Most of it is occupied by the necropolis, which is located near the Kremlin Wall - a memorial cemetery where state, party and military figures of the USSR, participants in the October Revolution of 1917 and some foreign communist revolutionaries are buried. At the same time, the wall itself was adapted as a columbarium for urns with ashes. The Lenin Mausoleum is located in the very center of the square. The square has served as a trading place since ancient times, where temporary and permanent shopping malls have been built for many centuries in a row. During the Soviet era, military parades and demonstrations took place on the square, after the collapse of the USSR it began to be used for public events and concerts.
