Prosphoric housing
Detailed description
On the north side of the monastery courtyard is bordered by the Prosphora building and the Granite Tower of the Alexander Nevsky Abbey, built in 1761-1771 by architect M.D. Lastuguev. Its composition and architectural form are similar to the buildings of the seminary. The architecture of the prosfornia is based on a two-story annex connected by a one-story cloister with a corner tower and a two-story pavilion at the northern monastery gate. The passage through the pavilion and leading from the abbey to the bank of the Monastyrka River has since been destroyed, but traces of the gates are clearly visible in the preserved buildings. The main arch of the gate is decorated with three-quarter columns supporting a beam pediment. The facade of the prosphora wing is typical of Russian Baroque architecture.
