Detailed description

The church in the cemetery was founded only on September 26, 1869, according to the project of N.P. Grebenki and was built at the expense of the brothers D.M. and N.M. Polezhaev. It was consecrated on February 2, 1873. Thanks to the generosity of the donors, a family crypt was created below. In 1901, the small building was renovated with the support of Lavra architect L.P. Andreev. In 1931, the church was closed, and from 1935 to 1937 it was converted into a post office. Currently, the scientific department of the Museum of Urban Sculpture is located here. The cemetery became a "Necropolis of the Masters of Arts", however, when it was created in the 1930s, most of the old graves were destroyed and about sixty were moved from other cemeteries in the city.
