Foundry Yard and workshops of the Academy of Arts
Detailed description
Residents of St. Petersburg met the monument to Peter I at Mikhailovsky Castle or the bronze composition for the statue of Suvorov at the Field of Mars. But few people know exactly where the bronze bas-reliefs for architectural objects were made. They were created in the foundry workshop of the Academy of Arts. It is a stone building with a decorated corner and two floors. The decorations are door bas-reliefs, white architraves, and a crowning cornice. The corners of the building are treated with rustication. The lower part of the building is tiled. The architectural style of the Foundry Yard and the workshops of the Academy of Arts is distinguished by the clarity and simplicity of traditional forms with fixed proportions and ornaments.
