Detailed description
The complex of buildings of the Mariinsky Guardianship of the Blind is located at the intersection of Professor Popov and Grotto streets. It was founded in 1881 by Secretary of State K. K. Groth. This institution was built for the social protection of the blind. This is a large-scale three-storey building, which is made of red brick. The complex was built in the same architectural style as the Russian one. The building is characterized by a low iron grating. The main entrance is located a little further than the middle of the building, above it there is an iron canopy with an openwork pattern. Cornices are located between the floors, window openings are decorated with pilasters.
