Merchant V.L. Zhukov's House
Detailed description
In 1911, Vasily Lukich Zhukov built a new three-story stone house designed by architect Fyodor Chernomorchenko. The project combined several architectural styles and provided for the richest exterior decoration. The three-storey building is divided into two symmetrical parts by a triangular bay window with a height of two floors. The window openings of the second floor are decorated with sandalwood with imitation keystones in the shape of a flower. The second floor is also decorated with raised ceilings and balconies with wrought-iron details. Above the cornice is a parapet with a relief inscription with the surname and initials of the owner. The main decorative elements are stucco details: a plaster lion's head, sculptural male portraits with crowns of leaves on their heads, children's figures on the bay window, figures of crowned women in the corners of the building. The house was fully rented out: rented apartments on the upper floors and retail space on the ground floor.
