Red Chambers
Detailed description
The Red Chambers were built in the 1680s. The building was originally three storeys high, but as a result of numerous alterations, the last floor was destroyed, and the facades lost most of their exquisite decor. Initially, the chambers were the main house of boyar Boris Gavrilovich Yushkov. After that, the building changed more than one owner. In the 19th century, the life of the Red Chambers was divided into two parts: before and after the fire of 1812. During the Soviet Union, the chambers were residential. After the collapse of the USSR, there was a restaurant, then an art gallery, but since 2017 the building has been empty.
