A. A. Levenson 's Cursive Printing
Detailed description
The A.A. Levenson Printing Company was one of the most famous and prestigious publishing houses and printing houses of the Russian Empire. It was founded by Alexander Aronovich Levenson, the son of the famous Moscow doctor A.B. Levenson, and on March 31, 1881, it opened its doors. In the beginning, they had only one typewriter and a manual printing press, and they received small orders for printing business cards and invoices. However, a few years later they received an order to print the newspaper "News of the Day". In 1887, the company turned into a partnership based on faith, the Trading House of A. Levenson and Co., with the involvement of shareholders. In 1890, a reorganization was carried out, and they became known as the A.A. Levenson Cursive Printing Company. Founder A.A. Levenson lived in a mansion on Prechistenskaya Embankment, next to the "Pertsova House", which was rebuilt by F.O. Shekhtel in 1901. In 1917, the printing house was acquired by Zemgor, and after the October Revolution it was nationalized and turned into the 16th state printing house of the Mospoligraf Trust. However, it was liquidated in 1924.
