R.M. Wetzer's mechanical workshops
Detailed description
In the 1890s, the house belonged to Prince P. J. Orbeliani, and in 1896 it passed to R. M. Wetzer, the owner of a mechanical workshop. The building of the mechanical workshop, visible from the courtyard, was built in 1895 by architect M.I.Sholkovsky. The superstructure was built in 1898 by G.V. Voinevich.
During the First World War, the Wetzer plant produced rangefinders and rangefinder tubes. In addition to Wetzer's workshop, there was a "coffee house" on this site by the famous restaurateur Dominic, which was later outbid by innkeepers. On November 9, 1920, the workshops were nationalized.
