Montferrand Mansion
Detailed description
In 1836, the mansion passed into the possession of the architect Montferrand, who decided to rebuild it according to his own design. The interior of the mansion reflects the taste of its owner, who was an art connoisseur. The main entrance to the mansion, surrounded by a bronze staircase, was located in a vaulted courtyard, which could be accessed from the embankment through an atrium with paintings, stucco and sculptures. On the ground floor there was a library, which was decorated with marble reliefs, next to which was the study where Montferrand died. After his death, the house was sold several times and changed owners, and now it houses the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the city.
