Kalinkin Workhouse
Detailed description
Kalinkin Workhouse was built back in the eighteenth century in 1720 on the banks of the Fontanka River. It got its name from the Finnish village of Kaljula, which means Kalina in Russian. Later, the city hospital, established by Elizabeth Petrovna, was located here. Later, the building was rebuilt and supplemented with structures.
