Detailed description

The Mining Museum was founded in 1773 on the basis of the Mining University. It is now housed in a building designed by A.N. Voronikhin in 1811 in the spirit of the Russian Empire. Throughout its existence, the museum's foundation has collected more than 230,000 exhibits in 20 halls, including rare minerals, precious stones, metals, a collection of meteorites, samples of mining equipment, and materials about the history and development of the university. The museum presents three areas: mineralogy, the history of technology and geology.
