The mansion of M.P. Botkin
Detailed description
The building of M.P. Botkin's mansion traces its history back to the 1720s. Mikhail Petrovich Botkin, a well-known art critic, artist and collector, bought the house in 1883. The architect of the building is A. K. Bruni, who rebuilt the mansion on behalf of M.P. Botkin. Ceremonial interiors were added: carvings, moldings, door portals, tiled stoves and fireplaces. An attic was built, and a balcony was installed on one side of the building. Since the 1930s, the building has been occupied by the district court. Nowadays it houses the Museum-Institute of the Roerich family. It belongs to architectural monuments of regional importance.
