Rostov Synodal compound
Detailed description
In 1718, the Archdiocese of Rostov was established on the right bank of the Neva River. In 1799, it was transferred to the Archbishop of Yaroslavl, and in 1833 to the Synod, and five years later Archbishop A. Sichedrin renovated it with a new entrance and a golden cross on the pediment. The two houses, built in the 1720s and 1730s, have retained most of their original appearance, as befits an exemplary project "for the nobility." The house on the right belongs to the Rostov Yaroslavsky parish, and the second house came into possession at the beginning of the 19th century.
