Assumption courtyard of the Vvedensky Stavropol monastery Optina deserts
Detailed description
The compound of the Pskov Caves Assumption Monastery was previously located on this site. In the late 1880s, the Kiev Caves Monastery acquired the building and transformed it into a house church. However, in 1894 the building was demolished, and in its place from 1895 to 1897 a new Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was erected according to the project of civil engineer Vasily Kosyakov with the participation of engineer Bronislav Pravdzik. In December 1897, the main altar and the chapel were consecrated. In 1900, the entire compound complex, including the apartment building, was completed.
