The courtyard of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra
Detailed description
The courtyard of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra is located on the embankment of the Bolshaya Neva River. The courtyard was founded in 1721, and it was transferred to the Kiev Pechersk Lavra only in 1875. The small church could not accommodate the parishioners and it was decided to rebuild the temple. All construction work was completed in 1900. After perestroika, the courtyard included a whole ensemble of buildings: the Assumption Church, the Metropolitan Building, fraternal wings, the clergy house, office buildings and two gardens. Currently, the building houses the Pilgrim's House at the Assumption Courtyard Hotel.
