Shakhovsky - Glebov - Streshnev City Estate
Detailed description
The history of the building begins in the middle of the XVIII century. It used to be the home of Princess Nastasia Dashkova, who hosted concerts here by her daughter-in-law Ekaterina Dashkova, an associate of Catherine II. Then the estate passed to the general-in-chief Fyodor Glebov, and after that to his widow, Elizabeth Streshneva. They held receptions here. After that, the building was reconstructed several times. The street facade was made in the style of European eclecticism, and the facade and wing located from the courtyard were in the pseudo-Russian style. A porch with cup poles, a hanging "kettlebell" and a tent was added to the building. The house has two floors. The first one is slightly lowered down, there are small rectangular windows. And on the second floor there are tall windows framed by arches. This building is a historical monument of cultural heritage. Now the famous musical theater "Helikon Opera" is located there.
