Peter and Paul Cathedral
Detailed description
The cathedral was built in 1703 by order of Peter the Great. The building belongs to the architectural style – Petrovsky Baroque. Architect Domenico Trezzini worked on the project of the building. Until 1952, the building was the tallest in Russia. Its height is 122.5 meters. The cathedral is different from Orthodox churches. It is a building in the shape of a rectangle, which has a basilica of the "hall" type, which is typical of Western European architecture.
