Chelishchev's Mansion - P.A. Myasoedov's Apartment house
Detailed description
In the middle of the 19th century, the three-storey mansion belonged to the Chelishchev family. Later, in 1876, when the house came into the possession of P. Myasoedov, it was rebuilt according to the project of A. Straukh. The building was enlarged by one floor, and a semicircular bay window appeared in the center of the facade. The windows were covered with stucco, including female masks, figures and cartouches. As a result, the building, once built in the classical style, has acquired a mature eclectic character. Another reconstruction was carried out in 1917. An attic with three arched gables was built in the upper part of the house. During the 1978 renovation, the attic was replaced with a regular five-story section, repeating the silhouette of the original building.
